Wall stencil

One of the many things we love about our house is our entry way. Nowadays builders don't build homes with great entry ways. This is a before picture looking towards the front door.

Prior to purchasing our house I was in the clearance section at Joanns and spotted this demask stencil. It was on clearance for 1 dollar. I have read blogs and know that stenciling is the newest rage, so I bought two stencils, a sponge, and delta paint creme. Total cost of this project 9 dollars, everything was on clearance!

I used a standard leveler, and used tape to hold the stencil against the wall. It took me 5 hours give or take to complete this project. Here is a view from our front room into the entry way.

These pictures don't do it justice. All I have to say is, thatI am in love with this wall and what can I stencil next?

Bear Lake

For the Easter holiday, we escaped to Bear Lake. The weekend was spent relaxing and enjoying each others company. It was a cold and windy, but we didn't let that damper our fun.

The kids spent a lot of time outside spinning on the merry-go-round.

And playing in the heated pool.

We celebrated Easter by eating ham, coloring eggs, and having an Easter egg hunt.

We love our Fullmer Family getaways, sugar filled and all.

I am blessed and greatful to be apart of such a wonderful family.

The Devil cabinet

We are short on cabinet space in our kitchen. I was looking for a small cabinet, that I can put our canned and dried food in. I purchased this cabinet from Homedecorators.com. It is actually great quality for the price. It is not your typical particle board crap.

I purchased this cabinet knowing I was going to paint it black, because that is the color of our furniture through out our house. I thought it would be an easy task. Once it comes, it will be disassembled and it will be super easy to spray paint right......wrong. It started off easy, until the paint started to bubble due to the manufacture finish on it. I then had to sand the entire thing, and hand paint it. Once I hand painted it, I didn't like that that it wasn't smooth ( I know, I know, I am too picky) so I antiqued it. I finished it off by purchasing new antiqued pewter knobs from Hobby Lobby for 2.99 a piece.

This cabinet is the Devil. It occupied my garage while I worked on it for three weeks. It was a pain to paint, it was a pain to put together. But I finally I finished it. Overall I am okay with results. I am not in love with it, but I don't hate it anymore. However I will always refer to it as the devil.

Change up

Before....

Not too bad.

After.....

Much better.

This mirror I purchased prior to getting married. It has been propped up on the floor of my living room for a year now, and it even survived multiple floods. I purchased it from Big Lots for 25.00 dollars.

Moss covered letters

Moss covered letters are the all the rage. However, their price tag is not so appealing. I spent a total of 10.00 compared to buying one for 30.00 dollars

I could have saved more money by not purchasing the moss cover, and buying your traditional moss. I was trying to cut down on the mess and because I spent the extra 2 dollars, this project literally took 5 min. to complete. Which was totally worth the extra money.

I purchased this letter and the moss at the local Joann's store. (I had coupons)

I hot melt glued the letter and just rolled the moss cover over the top of it. Super easy.

When I was complete, I just trimmed off the excess and added a ribbon which I already had.

Tada....It's done, and you just saved 20.00 dollars.

The gathering spot

No matter how big the t.v. is, no matter how roomy our living room is. The gathering spot always tends to be our bedroom. We squeeze together, popcorn and all and watch a 20" t.v. I wouldn't have it any other way. I love my boys. I love Mr. Fullmers popcorn. I love our cuddles.

R.I.P

Salty
Aiden's white frog died this week. It is absolutely heartbreaking as a mother to see your child cry over a pet. I held Aiden in my lap for what seemed like forever, as he cried. I explained to him the process of life and death. Aiden's reply, 'Salty is with Jesus.' I felt my heart swell. I knew that even though this was hard for him, he knew that Salty will be okay. Within a few minutes he got up from my lap and went and grabbed his coloring supplies. Aiden drew a picture of his frogs, so he will always remember him.

Finished

Remember this beauty from my previous post....

Drum roll please......She is all done!

All the cushion are handmade, and the fabric was purchased at Home Goods (I heart). It is the most comfortable and adorabel rocker ever. I am extremely pleased with the end result.

P.s. I can't forget to thank Mr. F for helping me fix the springs. XOXO.

Jewelry/music box

I have been in the search for a jewelry box for some time now. However I was not looking for a vintage one. I picked up this beauty at my favorite antique/consignment shop, Chic and Unique in SLC. I paid 25 dollars for it.

One of the Drawer pulls, was missing. However to my surprise the broken drawer pull was in one of the drawers (yippee). It was nothing a little super glue couldn't fix. When you open the bottom drawer it plays 'rain drops are falling on my head.' My Mother is the one who recognized the tune. This dates this piece to the 70's.

I painted the jewelry box white, and antiqued it by using sand paper. Now it's perfectly shabby chic.

Table chairs

From bland.....

......To Fab

We had a local upholstery store closing it's doors for good. Yesterday was their last day, and all upholstery was 70% off. It's a good thing because I would never spend 40 dollars a yard on fabric. I found this lovely print which I loved from the moment I saw it. It was the last of the bolt, and I barely had enough to redo all four of our chairs. This was a very inexpensive way to spice up our table chairs and give them character.

The Long Beach Aquarium

During our vacation, we went to a presentation at the time share we were staying at. We sat through a 1 hour presentation and got 75 dollars. We took that 75 bucks and went to the aquarium. Aiden hasn't been there since he was 2, so it was about time we went back. He really enjoyed it.
We spent the majority of our time petting sharks and sting rays. He thought that was awesome, though he was hesitant at the beginning. He also loved watching the big shark exhibit. They even had a baby hammer head shark.
We also had the opportunity to feed parrots. These parrots drink nectar. At one point Aiden had two birds on him, and they wouldn't leave him alone. Good thing Dallas was there to protect him.

There were a ton of exhibits to check out and lots to do. Aiden kept running from one to the next. We saw some amazing creatures, and learned a lot. We even saw a sea turtle, which was pretty awesome.

Vacationing continued

One of our favorite places to visit in California is Dana Point. It is absolutely breath taking. Every time we go to California, it is on the top of our list. We took Aiden for the first time. It is the best place to go and see tide pools. We saw crabs, starfish, sea sponges, sea urchins, and countless other things. We spent a good hour an half searching the rocks, until we got rained on. We then went to the local park and had a picnic under an awning in the rain. The kids totally didn't care, and ended up going to the beach and burying each other in sand. I wish I took more pictures.
We also visited my Aunt who lives in Fullerton. We visited for a couple of hours, and went to one of my favorite places to eat in California, Ruby's Dinner. They make the best hamburgers and onion rings. In my Aunt's yard she has fruit trees, and Aiden was wanting to pick some oranges. The oranges weren't quit rip, but we can check picking fresh oranges off of our bucket list.

A vacation, well over due

4 full Days in California deserves a double thumbs up.And what is a California vacation without going to Disneyland. We found an awesome company where we got park hopper tickets for 2 days and only paid 110 dollars a person. With a saving in the pocket, we were able to eat at Cafe New Orleans. Dallas' favorite place. We enjoyed Pommies and Mint Juleps. I can now say, it's my favorite place to eat in Disneyland too.

This was the best Disneyland trip to date. The lines were short, I wasn't sick, the weather was perfect, and Aiden went on every single ride. He wasn't scared of the haunted mansion. Last time we had to take the walk of shame and get escorted off. Aiden's favorite ride is still Pirates of the Caribbean however I am please to announce two new rides...drum roll please.....Space Mountain (went on twice) and Thunder Mountain (went on 5 times).A special thank you goes out to Disneyland for making these wonderful strollers. The first day we didn't have one. Aiden ended up falling asleep on me while I was sitting on the ground watching The World of Color. Did I mention he is 91 lbs. I asked a lady where she got her stroller, because she had a 12 yr old in hers. She said you can rent them, but don't find someone who ditched theirs. That is what I did on day two. It was a life saver. To see how sturdy they really are Dallas even pushed me in it (granted he didn't get too far).We are eager to go back. We had a wonderful time. We were stress free (I was), and Aiden was smiling the whole time. It was totally worth it. We did our entire vacation including our rental car, activities, and hotel stay under 600 dollars. Working for JetBlue, also helps.
